人間は昔からいっこうに変わらない、アホだというのは簡単。でも人間である以上、他者との「差異」を求めるものなのである。差異を求めながら、商売人に乗せられてぼられないための方法は何か。お金じゃない「差異」を求めること。これに尽きる。二三の参考例：

  1. 伊丹十三は、ものに拘った。でもお金はかけなかった。世界で一番高い消しゴムを使っていたがそれは５００円。醤油は長野県かどっかの知られていない醤油屋から取り寄せていたが、普通の値段。「差異」は値段じゃないと認識していた。
  2. 余丁町に住むグレゴリー・クラークは、千葉県に壮大な土地を所有し自分の「王国」を築いている。軽井沢なんかの別荘地の１００分の１以下の単価。 みんながブランド別荘地に群がる時に敢えて逆張りをする。「ニッポンの地価は高い高いと言うが、自分で探せばいくらでも安いところがある」という。
  3. フランス人の多くは、バカンスの度に地方の無名のワイナリーを自分で訪ね、自分の舌で判断して葡萄酒を安く多量に買い込む（地下室に保存する）。自分で納得した「知られざる銘酒」のコレクションをつくるのである。

要 は「システムの裏をかけ」ということだ。ニッポン・システムとは「都市住民をうまいことだまして搾取しイナカに所得移転を図るシステム」と言っていいが、 彼らの手口を勉強しさえすれば、うまく裏がかけるのである。だいたい政府とかマスコミとか消費者団体とか「リッチ志向の読者を対象にした女性雑誌」なんか が言っていることの反対をやればまず間違いはない。
